Located at the foothills of Skye Mountain, We’koqma’q First Nation is one of five Mi’kmaw communities in Unama’ki (Cape Breton Island).

This 1.5km maintained trail winds through the woods and hugs the Skye River. Located in We’koqma’q, just off the Trans Canada Highway, this trail is easily accessible and suitable for easy to moderate walking.
Medicinal gardens are planted and the plants are available to visits along with the story of their historical and current uses.
Cultural interpreters are located at stations throughout the trail in the summer months, welcoming guests, sharing stories, and providing cultural demonstrations such as smudging and sweet grass braiding.
